What We Believe

Statement of Faith

  1. We believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
  2. We believe in Jesus, God’s only-begotten Son, co-equal and co-eternal with the Father, and born in human flesh. God appointed Jesus to be the Christ / Messiah, foretold by the Old Testament prophets as the Saviour of the world.
  3. We believe in the ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.
  4. We believe in the divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God – fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.
  5. We believe that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, was born of the Virgin Mary and that he lived a sinless life. He proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God, worked miracles, taught the truth about God’s kingdom and showed how human beings should live.
  6. We believe that Jesus suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried and that he rose from the dead on the third day.
  7. We believe that Jesus ascended into heaven, that he is now Lord as well as Saviour and is seated at the Father’s right hand. He intercedes there for all his people and from there he will return to judge both those who are alive at his coming and those who have died beforehand.
  8. We believe that all the dead will rise bodily on the last day: that those with faith in Jesus will not perish but will reign with Jesus for eternity in a new heaven and earth.
  9. We believe that the Father wishes all people to find repentance from their sins and forgiveness through faith in Jesus,.
  10. We believe that the Father sends the Holy Spirit to indwell all his people and that they may be so filled with the Holy Spirit that they are empowered to demonstrate the kingdom of God as Jesus did himself.
  11. We believe that angels have been created by God to serve Him and to minister to his people.  We recognise that the devil opposes God’s purposes, although the devil’s power has been defeated by the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus.
  12. We believe that Christians should assemble together regularly as a body of Christ for worship, prayer, teaching and mutual support and encouragement in an atmosphere of fellowship and godly love.
  13. We believe in the sacraments of water baptism by full immersion and sharing of the bread and wine. We also believe that godly marriage between a man and a woman is intended to be a sacramental reflection of the oneness between Christ and his church.
  14. We believe that Christians should always offer God’s love and forgiveness to all mankind, without discrimination.
